  • The Missing Element of Sales Success

The big question of what makes a salesperson successful comes up in almost every conversation. What is it? Motivation? Skills? Work ethic? Talent? The list is almost endless. Frankly it comes down to one thing – only one. Everything else is important but without this none of the rest matter.

What is it? What is the missing element in so many sales people preventing them from being successful salespeople?

RESOLVE

Ask yourself what are you committed to achieving regardless of the obstacles or situation? Without firm resolve goals get missed, numbers don’t get met and your income, lifestyle and achievements languish.  As Wayne Dyer said,

There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there’s only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.

Selling can be a difficult. You face rejection every day. Like a gladiator you have to climb into the arena every day and do battle. Motivation wanes. Talent and work ethic will only get you so far. Adversity will come. Stronger, more able competitors will confront you. Your strength of will lived in your commitments is what will make the difference between winning or losing.

Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans. Peter F Drucker

Commitment – the resolution to achieve your goals – is the missing element in most people’s lives. Ever said “I’ll try.” There is no try – there is doing or not doing. Those that try have already lost. What are you resolved to? And I mean really resolved to?
